When Is Bruno Fernandes’s Birthday?
Bruno Fernandes celebrates his birthday on September 8 every year. He was born in 1994, meaning he reached his 30th birthday in September 2024, turned 31 in September 2025 and celebrated his 32nd birthday in September 2026.
His next birthday will be on September 8, 2027, when he turns 33.
The timing matters because football seasons usually begin before his September birthday. For example, Fernandes started the 2026/27 season at 31 before turning 32 a few weeks later.
That also explains why some articles published earlier in 2026 describe him as 31. Those figures were correct before September 8, but they should not be used as his current age.
His birth date remains the same regardless of the season or tournament. For readers checking his age in future years, the important detail is whether September 8 has already passed.
How Old Is Bruno Fernandes When He Joined Manchester United?
Bruno Fernandes was 25 years old when he signed for Manchester United on January 30, 2020.
He arrived from Sporting CP, where his performances had established him as one of Portugal’s standout midfielders. The transfer marked a major step in his career, bringing him into the Premier League after several years of professional football in Italy and Portugal.
Fernandes made his Manchester United debut on February 1, 2020, against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The match ended in a 0–0 draw, and he was still 25 at the time.
His impact soon extended beyond goals and assists. His creativity, passing, determination and leadership helped him become a central figure in United’s midfield.
An interesting detail is that Fernandes initially wore the number 18 shirt at Manchester United. He later changed to number 8, the number he wears today.
How Old Is Bruno Fernandes During His Early Football Career?
Fernandes began his professional journey relatively young, but his route to Manchester United was different from that of many other Portuguese footballers.
Instead of immediately establishing himself at a major Portuguese club, he moved to Italy as a teenager and developed through several teams.
| Year | Career Milestone | Age |
|---|---|---|
| 2012 | Joined Italian club Novara | 17 |
| 2013 | Moved to Udinese | 18 |
| 2016 | Joined Sampdoria | 21 |
| 2017 | Signed for Sporting CP | 22 |
| 2020 | Joined Manchester United | 25 |
| 2023 | Became Manchester United captain | 28 |
| 2026 | Celebrated his 32nd birthday | 32 |
His experience at Novara, Udinese and Sampdoria helped him adapt to professional football away from his home country.
Returning to Portugal with Sporting CP in 2017 proved particularly important. At 22, he already had several seasons of Italian football behind him.
His performances for Sporting attracted attention from Manchester United, eventually leading to his move to England in January 2020.
This career timeline shows that Fernandes had accumulated substantial professional experience before reaching his mid-twenties.
How Old Is Bruno Fernandes at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups?
Bruno Fernandes was 28 years old at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The tournament took place after his September birthday, meaning he had already turned 28.
At the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held between June and July, he was 31. His 32nd birthday came later, on September 8, 2026.
These ages provide useful context for his international career. By the 2026 tournament, Fernandes was no longer an emerging player but an experienced midfielder with years of top-level club football behind him.
Playing for Portugal alongside internationally established players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, has also been an important part of his football career.
What Did Bruno Fernandes Achieve at Age 31?
Some of Fernandes’s most notable individual achievements came while he was 31.
During the 2025/26 Premier League season, he recorded 21 assists, setting a new record for the most assists in a single Premier League campaign.
The previous record was 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry from the 2002/03 season and Kevin De Bruyne from 2019/20.
Fernandes secured his 21st assist on May 24, 2026, when he provided the delivery for Patrick Dorgu’s goal against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He also received the Premier League Player of the Season award and, in August 2026, won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
All these achievements came before his 32nd birthday.
This gives his current age additional significance. At 32, Fernandes has already enjoyed a lengthy professional career, while his recent achievements demonstrate that his influence has extended well beyond his early years at Manchester United.
Why Do Some Websites Show Bruno Fernandes as 30 or 31?
Different ages appearing online do not necessarily mean the player’s birth information is disputed.
The confusion usually comes from when an article was published or last updated.
For Bruno Fernandes, the age changes are straightforward:
- September 8, 2024, to September 7, 2025: 30 years old.
- September 8, 2025, to September 7, 2026: 31 years old.
- September 8, 2026, to September 7, 2027: 32 years old.
An article describing Fernandes as 31 during the summer of 2026 was accurate at the time. However, the same age would be outdated after his September birthday.
Football databases and older search results may also display information captured before a birthday.
For the most reliable answer, use his confirmed birth date rather than relying on an age number from an older profile.
